Set against the backdrop of the British Raj era, “Thangalaan” follows the journey of a formidable tribal leader who becomes entangled in a conflict with a mysterious sorceress. The narrative unfolds as he assists a British general in the search for gold within their village, inadvertently invoking the sorceress’s wrath and setting the stage for a gripping adventure.
The film’s production commenced in October 2022 after an official announcement in December 2021, initially referred to as “Chiyaan 61” marking Vikram’s 61st film as a lead actor. Filming progressed through various schedules across diverse locations including Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Madurai, and parts of Karnataka, ultimately wrapping up by early July 2023.
